LUCY goes to market

There are a ton of alphabet books out there. This is one I'm fond of because it has a simple premise and the language is both varied and interesting. Widening the vocabulary of young children is so important. 'A kimono, a lopsided lampshade, marmalade moons'. Very sweet and quirky - illustrated by Sanchia Oppenheimer in a soft, smoky palette on matt paper stock. Published by Macmillan in 2009 it is not a new book, but it is a firm favourite. My only critique would be that the pale blue on the cover doesn't quite reflect the prettiness of the insides.
